» meluvu636 - Reality

Although I am only 15, I do have a lot to say about what I read in response to the article, "Papa Don't Preach".I agree with the thought that parents need to open their minds to the reality of this world. They need to talk to their children, not about how babies are made-they all get that-stick the penis in the vagina and whala! Maybe 9 months from now you'll have a baby! But they need to know how it happens and they need to know about conception and how it works and EFFECTIVE contraceptive methods. I know a lot on this particular subject, (sex, pregnancy, child birth, babies, etc)but not because I got pregnant or that I have ever even had sex, but because I educated myself on this topic. I find the whole process fasinating and miraculous. But, because I have educated myself so much on this topic, I get a lot of kids asking for my edvise and questions about what's true and what's not. I have recieved questions about using ciran wrap and a rubber band in place of a condom-definately not! I've been asked about getting pregnant if you have sex on your period-although possible for prevention, you would have had your period for a good deal of time and know exactly how your cycle works-even then it is not a guarentee-so it would not be an effective method for teens. I have been asked if you can get pregnant on your first sexual encounter-yes you can. I have told many YOUNG children that they can get pregnant even BEFORE they have their period. That is because when a woman gets her period, that is the lining of the uterus and the unfertalized egg that is exiting from her body-which means the egg had been released from the ovaries for fertilization a few weeks before. Which is how she can get pregnant. Many ask if withdrawal (or taking the penis from the vagina before ejaculation) is a successful method of contraception-no. Most men (or boys) do not have the willpower to pull out in time. Even if they do, chances are she could get pregnant. Also, something many don't know, a woman CAN get pregnant even if the penis is NOT all the way in the vagina-if just the tip is and the male does not ejaculate-because to help the penis into the vagina, both male and female prduce natural lubricants with their bodies; sometimes there is spirm in the lubricant. If anywhere near the vagina, spirm CAN SWIM until it is inside. That's the honest to god truth. I have to get going but it is things like this that parents need to talk to their teens about (or children). I should not have to be the one, although I don't mind, to tell these kids about it. I don't mind becuase I know they are insecure and uncertain and want to know, but they should be able to ask their parents because, I am one of very FEW who actually know the correct answers. What do you think, does that make any sense??
