Thanks for a thought provoking article, Cheryl.

I, too, have reservations about many kids' chat rooms... the multiage group thing probably bothers me the most... I want my ten year old to hang out with his peers...not with fifteen to seventeen year olds... Good work! Colleen, M.E.

Thanks Colleen smile I'm glad you liked the article. I wasn't sure how it would be recieved but I wanted to point out some things that parents might want to think about. I would like to see a place where the chat rooms were set up according to ages. I know that it might not make a huge difference but if they were monitored it could be a great thing.

I've been contacted by a man who is considering this very thing as well as a whole system setup for kids online. Mail, chats, news, message boards etc. and I hope it gets online. I think it would be great for the younger kids who are online.

Thanks again,

Cheryl, Anytime that we are working toward the protection of our children, then we are working toward a positive goal! I would like to see some type of chat rooms set up where proof of age via parental contact was necessary, maybe via a phone call??? I don't know...it's a tough issue as pedophiles could still pose as their own parent...if you know what I mean...and register themselves as children... I guess, monitoring our kids as they are online is the only real thing that we can do to be 100% sure that we are allowing them to be exposed to subjects, topics, discussions, etc. that we, as parents, approve of.... Take care for now, Cheryl... and you are very welcome...I couldn't agree with you more on this issue!
