In response to message posted by MaggieM:
That sounds good, Maggie. And I wouldn't be running around frantically trying to get the garden ins shape if Roger hadn't set fire to half of it. Not to mention that the critters are enjoying it big time this year - and in the main garden that has never been a problem before. SO I'm suddenly dealing with problems I've never had to cope with. And that has put me way behind in all of the chores that I have normally accomplished by now. There are still gardens I haven't even raked out!

But even though it was cold enough for winter clothes today I strolled through the gardens and am gratified that, after we finally got rain, many of the plants I had given up on are finally poking through. Not only that but the tree peony that was right in the path of the big blaze has suddenly sent up all new growth from underground. But the poor Japanese maple is all but dead onone side - and that was the main structural and living center of the entire garden.

Bon Voyage, Gay!!
