Gay,I would of course be tempted to throw 'australis' back at you, but realize you are much more clever than that. Most Cornus have purplish black fruits, not red. Cornelian (read sorbet) Cherry's have dark red fruit. They belong to S. Europe and Asia. C. mas Usually their leaves are much longer than the picture you show ... so???

I remain at a loss! Japanese Cornelian Cherry would be my next stab in the dark. Leaves still do not fit the picture you posted.

I remain eliptically puzzled by yur leaves.

Eh, just bought a great Syrah/Shiraz. Spelling left aside to cultures. Your supreme Auzie contender was Banrock Station, vs. some other more well known wineries. Our Northwest contender was Pepperwood Grove 98 Syrah!!! NINE STARS. Only blasted thing was, I raced back in to buy more and found only 99 vintages had been re-stocked.

Bastards!!! Oh well, I will sit on this one until I unearth another 1998 vintage. Will be on the waiting blocks for 2000 or 2001 releases. I want the grapes from 1999!!! No idea how long Syrah's are held.
