» Zarn100 - Help - Suggestions

Hello
I'm getting married in Tasmania in August 2006. I have quite a few people coming from overseas and interstate. I'd love to showcase all things Tasmania at the wedding.

I'd love to use native Tasmanian flowers in my bouquet and also for table centre pieces. Ideally I would like the centre pieces to be in pots so our Tasmanian guests could take them home and plant in their gardens.

Does anyone have any suggestions on plants I could research?

Thank you!

Julie B

In response to Help - Suggestions posted by Zarn100:

What a lovely idea, Julie. But difficult!!!There are a very few Tassie native nurseries. I have been at our country garden for several days [where I do not use the Net] so apologise for not answering sooner

Off the top of my head I thought of the lovely Tas native clematis aristata for your bouquet, white flowers with a wonderful perfume. The leatherwoods are not in bloom in August, indeed most Tassie natives are Spring and Summer flowers.

There is wattle in bloom at this time, our bush is full of this. Acasia melanoxylon is the botanic name. My worry re using this is that it many people are allergic and get hay fever attacks.

Up the mountain is a wonderful native nursery "Ridgeway" 65 Hall St

If you like to email me [gklok@trump.net.au} I will give their tel. number, also our number though you can find them in the tel book.

I hope you see this answer - It is such a great idea that I would be very happy to help in any way I can, Gay
