» LadyKelien - Welcome Well I thought since I was taking over this topic that we could start just a general discussion area. Your free to ask any questions or post any comment that you like. If on occasion we disagree on views please try to not say anything you would not want said to you.-- posted by LadyKelien » biogardener - Question about the Death Card I have a question about the Death Card. I have been told that it means a new beginning. Does it ever mean actual death or death wish or that someone else is plotting or threatening our death? I thought that maybe in certain positions it might mean that, or maybe if it is reversed. I am just guessing. What can you tell me about that?-- posted by biogardener » LadyKelien - Re: Question about the Death Card In response to message posted by biogardener:In certain combinations it could mean that. For instance people who use the Celtic Cross spread and if the final outcome card is the death card then it very well could mean death. But, more often than not death by itself just means change. That one thing is ending and something else is replacing it. It isnt neccissaraly a new beginning because sometimes the thing that changes doesnt end it just changes. In reverse it means stagnation. That things need to change but arnt. depending upon the spread, if you get the moon card is the card you lay down right before the death card it could then mean that someone is plotting your death. But, in all my years of reading I have never gotten those two cards together in that order. I have gotten death then the moon card. But, that means that change will bring plotting against you in some fashion. But, that plotting could be to remove you from your postion at work or to break up a relationship it doesnt mean death. To me the card that shows up that lets me know that someones life is coming to an end is the 4 of swords. In the RWS deck it shows the coffen of a man who has passed on. Three swords hang on the wall and one sword is on the side of the coffen as though it is the staff the pall bearers will use to take him to his tomb or grave. To me this has a finality to it beyond the death card. In the death card you also see a new beginning in the ship sailing toward the land and in the children begging for their lives. It does not show a total masaqure just a change. But, the four of swords shows that the end of something is coming to pass. It does not leave hope of anything replacing it. It is the end of things plain and simple. This card often times doesnt mean death either. It just as often means a period of emotional death where the pain becomes so much you just shut down. But, if the question is about the health of the seeker and this card comes up toward the end of the spread and there is nothing after it to show that it doesnt mean phycial death then that is most likely what it means. But, in truth, outside of readings about health or situations which could bring about death it is hard to say for certain that eather of these cards mean death. It just isnt what they were meant to represent. Death as a whole has its own time and own space and is rarely written in stone. Predicting it is nearly impossible. The closer to the end of someones life you are the greater the possiblity that is what it could mean. And its more of a gut instinct than anything when it means death. At least for me. I refuse to read the cards as death. To many people see that as a negative idea. So I read them as change period. Because of this when that little voice in my head starts knocking around saying hey this time its death yoo hooo you gotta tell her this time it is death. I know that I am looking at a stiuation where someone will probably die. I dont get that little voice unless its the truth. All other times its just change. -- posted by LadyKelien » ashtray1111 - a deck I want to get into tarot so bad.
