» fogblender - Are online surf shops any good?

Online surf shops are popping up everywhere. But in my experience, these sites seem overpriced, understocked, and you can't even know what you're buying from them until you finally get it in the mail. Has anyone out there used any of these shops? How was the service and total experience? How did the price compare? Why did you choose to buy your surfgear online?

I've tried a few of the online shops. My best experiences have been with the Windjammer Surf Shop in New Jersey. They're a "store front" business, so you're not just dealing with some online-only business. They know their stock, they know the sport, and their prices and service are great! I've shopped with them several times. I've bought just about everything except a board (and that's something I think you should always do in person). So, if you're interested, check them out at http://www.windjammer.com
