» Peggy_Kord - Basketball and the Devil? What do you think? Will Jordon return? Would he be "heaven" sent? Good article! Welcome!-- posted by Peggy_Kord » jerrib - Welcome to the Suite It really is a different world of baseball now, isn't it? Your question, "How did it happen?" is a good one. Sort of like all the e-commerce and techies in Seattle running up the prices of housing, etc., so lots of folks can't afford to live here now!I'm subscribing. Do I dare ask where the Mariners fit in this picture? -- posted by jerrib » RJ2525 - Re: Basketball and the Devil? In response to message posted by Peggy_Kord:Peggy, Thanks for the e-mail. As far as Jordan being heaven sent, I've never been a Jordan fan. Yes, he's great. Yes, he is one of the best players ever (I'd take a dominanant Center over a dominant Guard any day of the week), but can you truly call a man who has to shoot 12 for 36 from the field to get his thirty points "heaven sent"? Iverson puts up Jordan numbers. I think Vince Carter is heaven sent. He shoots over 40 percent from behind the arc (unlike Jordan), and he actually likes to pass the ball. I'm too critical about Jordan, but I just want to see him go one-on-one with Vince... Well, no A-Rod and no Griffey equals Uh Oh, but they've got one of the best G.M.'s in baseball (Pat Gillick), and Nintendo ownership shouldn't be hurting for money (yet). Solid pitching and great defense doesn't always show up on the highlight reels, but it does help get you to the post season. Good riddance to A-Rod. If the Mariners spend that money on a good starter and a quality bat, A-Rod will be watching Mariner playoff games from the comfort of his Texas mansion. -- posted by RJ2525
