Excellent article Mr. Pickering. I myself thought of comparing Rudy and Michael...can't anyone but the two of us see that!?
Good luck to you.

Roy,

Excellent article and superb writing. Now three of us agree, some people need to know when to hold them and when to fold them. Only time will tell if MJ is coming to the table with a full deck.

Not sure I agree with your comparison of Michael Jordan to Rudy Giuliani... Rudy has been almost begged by thousands - perhaps millions - to stay in his position. Certainly, he could still do much without the title, but that's beyond the scope of our discussion.

Jordan was asked by no one to come back and play in the NBA. He saw Lemiuex and thought "Why not me?" Lemieux is a different story, however. Plagued by injuries his whole career, Lemieux could have been the greatest to ever play. But because of a chronic bad back and Hodgkin's Disease, he had to retire early.

Not only that, but the NHL is in dire straits as a professional sports organization. Lemieux had unmet goals. What Jordan's goals could possibly be at this point, I have no idea.

» NYCScribe - One More (last?) Time

Michael Jordan has announced (to the surprise of very few this time around) that he will be returning to the court for another season, thus fulfilling the second year of his two-year contract with the Washington Wizards. MJ claims that his knee has been rehabilitated and his love for the game is still strong. Doug Collins has indicated a preference for using Jordan off the bench, playing considerably less minutes per game than last season. Jordan's reply to the plan of his coach/employee was basically - We'll see about that.
