» desertblue - Some notes I was sent on coffee drinking!

I DID READ your coffffffffeeeeee article. Anything that smells of my
morning ritual is sacred. We share such a pleasant, social, environmentally
unfriendly (doh!) addiction, don't we?

Scotty

Liked the coffee review - my favorite is the melita filter deal. How much better can coffee be, especially when made at camp in Jtree by your good friend Jill?

Contractor Coffee
6 scoops of instant coffee in a standard automatic drip maker (adjust to liking). The key to true Contractor Coffee is that the initial filter and coffee grounds should be used the entire day. Only water to be added for subsequent pots. Contractor coffee is popular in small to medium sized companies. This is a lazy/cheap man technique.

Pros: Cheap. First pot is robust.

Cons: Inconsistent strength. The last pot of the day is very weak. Embarrassing to serve to guests. Messy cleanup.

I liked the coffee article! I had an idea of grinding my own, adding to a melita filter, then super-glueing the open end to make my own brand of coffee bags. Let me know how it works if you try it!

NOTE: The above comments were emailed in response to Camp Coffee: How to get a decent cup in the field. Thought I'd pass them on...coffee is a passionate subject!
