In response to message posted by DarleneCheek:

Thought I'd put in my 2 cents worth and counter with a savory, dinner pumpkin roll. These are to die for,a gorgeous color and can be served with any hearty dinner:

4 teaspoons yeast
1/3 cup warm water
1 1/3 cups canned pumpkin
1 cup milk, warmed
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1 teaspoon allspice
2 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large egg
6 cups flour, all-purpose
1 large egg, slightly beaten

Dissolve yeast in the the water in a small cup or bowl.

In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin, milk, sugar, salt, spices, oil, and egg. Blend until smooth.(I use a standup mixer for this with the beater attachment).

Add the yeast mixture, 2 1/2 cups of flour and blend until smooth.(I now change to the dough hook).

Continue adding flour and mixing until the dough can be handled and comes away from the edge of the bowl, (may not need all the flour - you want a soft dough.). Knead 4-5 minutes, and then turn out into an oiled bowl. Cover and allow to double, about 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

Punch the dough down, rest 10 minutes, and then form into rolls. Arrange the rolls, touching, on a baking sheet and allow to rise again for 45 minutes.

Brush the beaten egg on top, and bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until an instant thermometer measure 200 degrees.
