» pentimento - War IS hell Well put Lisa! I don't understand how so many people, in the name of democracy, feel so at ease with shutting down discussion, or how people who claim to value human life can so easily send our youth to die, suffer dramatic and traumatic physical injuries, and endure the psychological trauma that war entials.Peace, regina -- posted by pentimento

There was a cartoon (not a political one) in tonight's newspaper. A little girl asks an adult (her parent?),"Where do we get the meaning of words...like WAR?" The adult answers, "I guess it means..We Are Right." -- posted by Georgene A. Bramlage » MJRichards - Why is this opinion piece in the food category? Have you listened to any of President Bush's speeches, or Secretary of State Colin Powell's?Are you so blinded by the term, "war", that you cannot understand the reasons for this historic, humanitarian mission? Did you smell the destruction from the burning Twin Towers in the morning of September 12th, 2001, as I did? Do you realize how many New Yorkers and other Americans feel safer now that a regime who has systematically killed millions is out-of-power? It's presumptuous to pretend to know that the reasons for our military operation in and for Iraq were not justified. People who listened to the reasons from those saddled with this responsibility--and sought to understand them--DO understand, and disagree with you! -- posted by MJRichards

HI! Valid question, MR. When I first read Lisa's column in question...I asked myself the same question. However, I did decide, hence my initial reply, that she was so frustrated she wrote an article and placed it in the venue closest to hand...her southern cooking topic. I do wish though that Lisa would come back and give us more southern recipes...she's missed! I do hope you enjoyed reading about southern cooking and decide to try some of Lisa's recipes. They are great! -- posted by Georgene A. Bramlage » MJRichards - Re: Re: Why is this opinion piece in the food category? In response to message posted by Cercis:Greetings and thanks, Cercis. I suspect that by now, after a successful operation in Iraq, with de minimus civilian casualties and an antiquities collection that has been nearly restored, the writer's frustration has been alleviated. Faith in our U.S. administration has also been restored, for most. Yes, I have read and enjoyed the Southern Cooking category here, and hope to see more in it soon! :^) -- posted by MJRichards
