Wow! These really are true southern cooking recipes! They really sound just like the ones I grew up eating. My mom taught me how to make the red eye gravy when I was young and now that I am married it has become a regular on our menu. My husband had never tried it and when he heard what was in it he was a little hesitant. But let me tell you, he DROOLS when he smells me cooking it now. It is one of his absolute favorites! Great recipes!!!

In response to message posted by therobisons:

Welcome Lisa! smile Love your topic, and I am just going to print out your recipes. I'm not from the south, but some of my fondest memories are of the meals my southern born aunt would make when I was young. She made the best darn southern fried chicken, sometimes pork medalias, and gravy. I never knew how she did this as she didn't use a recipe. It was all in her head. I will be back often to check out what is cooking.

What a GREAT tip on the Cream Gravy recipe! Stop pouring when it stops sizzling. I am not the measuring type...I always mess that up somehow. The article and recipes are absolutely wonderful.
Thanks!

I love biscuits and gravy and will have to try your biscuit recipe. I have been making gravy since I was a kid (cooked sometimes for the family) and love all kinds. But what we called "white gravy" - your recipe - is the best! Memories!

Now I'm quitting for a while to go put on a pot of pinto beans. Biscuits and gravy will come when I get to the store to buy beer!

Oh, what great memories.
