» Warren_Hamby - Snow!

You folks in Hartselle get a lot more snow than we do in Birmingham. In fact, I'm jealous. I remember that when I lived in Hartselle during the late 1950's, we got some really good ones! Here in central Alabama, whenever the weather report predicts snow, you can believe there is about a chance in ten of getting it. (The only weather you can accurately predict in Alabama is that it will be hot as Gehenna in the summer). But you can also believe, when the weather report is snow, that you have a snowball's chance in an Alabama August of getting through the grocery line before your frozen foods thaw. I believe that where I live, the weather services are all owned by the grocers, and when profits of the grocers are falling, they call the weather services and tell them it's time to predict a good snow storm. The pandemonium begins. Alabamians rush out of their houses, into the grocery stores, like rats off a sinking ship. The bread and milk supplies are stripped within a half hour of the weather report. Do you think we'll get a good snow this year? Not in Hartselle, but in Birmingham? Keep hoping.
