CNN reported today that India was testing a nuclear device. What do you think this does to the regional stability, relations with Pakistan (who is also seeking to develop nuclear weapons) as well as the Nuclear NonProliferation Treaty?

I guess (yet another!) apology is in order. I was not online during the
days of the Indian nuclear tests and could not follow up with
updated articles. By the time I got back sssooo much had been written
on thesubject that I didn't feel the need to respond when newspapers and
magazines around the world had done so.

But suddenly, a change of heart. Pakistan was forced to explode 6 nuclear
devices in response to India's 5 under severe pressure from the Pakistani
public and press. A couple of days before the blasts on May 28th, political
and religious parties around Pakistan had threatened to come out into the
streets in protest.

Currently, Pakistan and India both are in the grip of worldwide sanctions
and it seems that Pakistan is in a situation much worse than India. Infact,
I deviated from the nuclear issue in my latest article to avoid monotony.
But seeing the people's interest, I will pursue the issue further and shed
more light on the economic effects the sanctions have had on Pakistan
and India.

Once more I apologize for not being there at the right moment. Thanks.
