What about Mars?
This archived discussion is "read only".
» biogardener - Best chance ever Dina, I expected you to publish an article on Mars by now, because we now have a better than once in a lifetime chance to watch the red planet up close. I have been watching it every single night, except when it was raining. It is one of the greatest spectacles I have witnessed, especially when Mars made an arc over the full moon. I have been taking naps in the daytime to allow me to stay up at night to watch the show. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, you can't miss it in the southern sky, starting in the east and arcing toward the west. Nothing in the sky is anywhere near as bright and big. And yes, the planet really is red. Here are some photos taken August 26 and 27: http://www.webshots.com/g/56/137-sh/4221... Especially on weekends, I am sure that parents would let their children stay up to watch or even to wake them up during the night. -- posted by biogardener » mastiffs2005 - Re: Best chance ever In response to message posted by biogardener:Traute, that's a cool picture! I've been watching Mars, too... and you're right, when it was around the moon, it was VERY pretty! I think I'll talk my bil into bringing his telescope over so I can see it closer Love & Hugs, -- posted by mastiffs2005 » biogardener - Soon, though The peak time was the end of August. Around here, it is getting too cold to watch outside. We are expecting frost any day now, and anyway, the autumn skies are not as clear as the summer skies. So prairie people like us may not get another good chance.-- posted by biogardener
