We also need to remember the time when the characters did not get what they wanted and the fan bases didn't dictate story lines.Real life is not stuck in the same rut except by choice so why should the characters on the "stories"? The reason there is so little going on is the characters are in ruts dictated by fan bases demanding "super couples". Phooey!
I think the story that evolve present the chance of a super couple but the chemistry has to be there not forced.
