» lunarville - RE: The Guiding Light's Dark Corners

Once upon a time, I truly enjoyed "The Guiding Light", but I have found myself watching it less and less and zipping through more and more on the video tape.

It started before the ridiculous clone story ever hit the air. The show lost its spark. The core characters were being ignored; the core families were being replaced by silly characters for whom you could care less.

And, despite the Reva/Josh fanfare, these are two core characters who are victims of recycled story lines that have become, in a word, BORING! Personally, I am not enamored by the "Reva Shayne Show". I do NOT want to see Reva every day.

I want to see story lines with some meat. I want to see some depth to the characters. I want to see Ed and Holly and Lillian and Buzz in a quadrangle with some substance to it. I want to see Phillip regain some of the humanity that he had with Harley. I want to see Beth tackle life instead of giggling breathlessly through it.

I want to see some writers on the show who can WRITE! What was that old chant we used to do on the baseball diamond at school? "We want a pitcher, not a belly itcher!" C'mon, GL, pitch us some story lines we can buy!

In response to message posted by lunarville:

It's true GL is no where near as great as it once was. I'm sick of the same stories over and over. I love Danny and Michelle, but I'm sick of the mob story. I hate Cassie. I hope she leaves town when Richard dies. I can't wait for this Tory mess to end. Reva is just not the same character she used to be. She lets Cassie and everyone else walk all over her. Millee Taggert seems to be turning things around. I hope she does a better job than Lucky Gold. That guy is a real hack!

» RWhitt85 - No more San Cristobel

I know a lot has been wrong with the show lately but at least we are getting past all the San Cristobel nonsense. Now if Beth could just die again or move back to Arizona or anything that gets her out of Springfield for good. I hate what they've done to Tony, reminds me of when they made Roger a rapist and I hated that story too. I think Danny and Michelle and the best part of the show right now. I also love the Harley & Gus storyline. They have their problems but they seem to work through them and hope they will continue to do so. Now if they would bring Mindy back as more than just a wedding guest and give her and Frank a decent storyline.

» Mickey29 - GL's Dark Corner's... Re: San Cristobel...

What you call a "dark-stain," was the *ONLY* reason I continued to stick with Guiding Light. For me, San Cristobel was different and brought much needed excitement to the show. Bradley Cole made me love Prince Richard. Now that he's been killed off, there's no reason for me to stick around. Between Paul Rauch and his hack writers... Guiding Light will be dead as Another World -- sooner rather than later.

Bottom Line... While there are still characters on the show I like, I really don't care enough to stick around. I've had enough. Besides, I never know what personality the characters are going to take on from day to day... or what history is going to be re-written.

I want to be entertained -- not ticked off, aggravated and upset.
