» lunarville - RE: The Guiding Light's Dark Corners

Once upon a time, I truly enjoyed "The Guiding Light", but I have found myself watching it less and less and zipping through more and more on the video tape.

It started before the ridiculous clone story ever hit the air. The show lost its spark. The core characters were being ignored; the core families were being replaced by silly characters for whom you could care less.

And, despite the Reva/Josh fanfare, these are two core characters who are victims of recycled story lines that have become, in a word, BORING! Personally, I am not enamored by the "Reva Shayne Show". I do NOT want to see Reva every day.

I want to see story lines with some meat. I want to see some depth to the characters. I want to see Ed and Holly and Lillian and Buzz in a quadrangle with some substance to it. I want to see Phillip regain some of the humanity that he had with Harley. I want to see Beth tackle life instead of giggling breathlessly through it.

I want to see some writers on the show who can WRITE! What was that old chant we used to do on the baseball diamond at school? "We want a pitcher, not a belly itcher!" C'mon, GL, pitch us some story lines we can buy!
