» pamela_saint - Snow

Hi Sandy,

As with many aspects of life, those of us accustomed to snow's quiet beauty do tend to take snow for granted, especially when we face the drudgery of shoveling! I must admit, however, that I still get excited over the first snowfall of the season. It was 70 degrees in Massachusetts last Thursday. Today I'm staring at three or four inches of snow. Ah, New England!

Enjoyed your article!

» Red - delightful...

Sandy,

What a delightful article. I enjoyed seeing the snow through the eyes of your friend.

Most years we have snow in November but this year we only had a dusting. No measureable snowfall for the first time in 50 years. Believe it or not, I miss it. Seems like we should have some by now and I find it hard to get into the Christmas spirit without it. Hope we have a little for Christmas.

I love being with the boys when the first snow comes. They get so excited about it. It brings back memories of when I was young.

Thanks for sharing this delightful experience. I always enjoy my visits to your topic.

» Tina_Coruth - Delightful article!

Hi Sandy,
What a delightful article. Although I have watched my children's and then my grandchildren's first awareness of snow, I have never seen an adult experience snow for the first time. We in the colder climes take it for granted -- I enjoyed reading this very much!!!

Ooooh, if we could only have some to watch. It is hard to sometimes realize what living in Alaska would be like. Thanks for helping me realize the wonderful experiences...

In response to message posted by Tina_Coruth:

Tina,

I had never seen an adult experience snow for the first time either until 2 years ago. My brothers stepson had met a girl from Austraila online and she came to visit at Christmas. We had a bad storm just a few days before Christmas and the snow was 3 feet deep. She was as excited as those children. She played in it and had a grand time. Her eyes sparkled and a smile lit up her face. It was awesome!

The boys were so excited on Friday when we had about 2 inches of snow. It is mostly gone now, though.
