Getting a Good night’s Sleep - Right!Read the article this discussion is about

» debconklin - Good Nights Sleep Nice visuals of living in the city, James. But, my sleepless nights are slightly different. I live in the country, but even here sleeping well is difficult. Between the yowling of the coyotes, the wind whipping through the trees, trees crashing in the woods (yes, even if nobody is near it, you can hear a tree fall in the woods) and hubby's snoring, a good nights sleep can be difficult to achieve. Poor me. :-)-- posted by debconklin » bcbell - Re: Good Nights Sleep In response to Good Nights Sleep posted by debconklin:And, god forbid you have small children who wake in the night, or share a bed with a pet whose restlessness is worse than a human's! I do try not to eat anything after midnight, but if I am still awake at 3 am I am now ravenously hungry! LOL! -- posted by bcbell » humorous_sage - Rules I hate to admit it but it seems as though rules were made to be broken. The doc has me taking pills at bedtime and the label specifies that I should take them with food. C'est la vie. At least I have the white noise of my CPAP machine to lull me to sleep. The CPAP Kid -- posted by humorous_sage » Sir_Bulldog - Rules just don't work. Yes it sure looks like all those rules on getting a good night sleep do not work very well. Did I mention that I have a "Watch" cat? Every time someone approaches my door or windows she runs and jumps on me when I am asleep and wakes me up to let me know. Then she runs and hides. Great in one way but the bus stop is only 15 feet from my windows. I could go on and on but I think you get the point. Lol!-- posted by Sir_Bulldog » humorous_sage - Re: Rules just don't work. Not only are those rules not practical for everyone, I've tried doing them, and it just didn't work for me.The best thing I ever did was to decide I was just going to sleep when I was tired and stay up when I wasn't tired. I was lucky enough not to be working at the time, or else of course this would not have been practical either. But you know how they always say to go to bed and get up at the same time every day? And they tell you not to take naps, either. Well, I ignored that advice. For the first few months, my sleep patterns were very irregular. Sometimes I slept most of the day and was up most of the night, and sometimes it was the other way around. After the first few months, I slowly began to develop a sort of schedule. After a while, it became more regular. The amazing this is, even when I was sleeping all kinds of odd hours, I always felt rested. I had much more energy than I did when I tried to follow all the rules. Kelly -- posted by rainne » humorous_sage - Re: Re: Re: Rules just don't work.
