» American1948 - Hives

I just discovered this site and I am really pleased with it! My daughter who is now age 30 first came down with them when she was about 18. She had been sick with either the flu or a virus. Her doctor put her on Celdane which she took for about 10 years. The cause was suggested to be "heat", either the sun, or warm temperature in offices and homes, and especially when she is in the car, her thighs and calves are covered in hives when she gets out. She is currently taking Clariten and I guess she will for the rest of her life. Anyone had an allergy to heat? What did your doctor recommend?
Thanks, Glenda Hall

My mom has had hives since easter 2002. She has been on a number of different treatments including visteral, allegra, zantac, prednisone. She has also had a suggestion that it is a vitamin deficiency, and has taken vitamins B6 and 12, flax oil, and vitamin E. She has also been tested for allergies and wasn't allergic to anything. If anyone has any medications or vitamins please let me know.

» sandimak40 - reaction to cold

About 6 months ago I started that "rare" reaction of my hands breaking out in throbbing, itching, welts whenever they get cold. If I pat out hamburger patties, they become unbearable. I can't put ice in glasses, or cut up a chicken out of the refrigerator. I've tried antihistamines with no results. Any suggestions? Will this last forever???

I've suffered from hives since 1995. Specialists could not help. I have been allergic to antibiotics since childhood but I was not and am not on antibiotics. I made the connection between antibiotics and our nation's reliance on mass produced meat and dairy products where producers use antibiotics daily in the feed. Once I cut them out of my diet, my hives have disappeared. Eat only organic!

In response to message posted by sonya13185:

I have had hives for about 5 months. Nothing seems to help. I have take prednisonene, adarax, Singulair, Zyrtecec, Zantacac, Diopoxinene, Oatmeal baths, topical creams - all with no success. I've been treated for h.pylori (bacteria that casueses ulcers) all with no success. (well, I was hive free for 7 days during the first part of the prevacet, amoxicillan, and bactrin) but they came back with vengencece. Have you had any other protocol or medsds or found any organizations that give helpful information?
