In response to message posted by KindraElise:

Hi I'm 20 years old and has had tinea versicoloror for about five to six years. I just wanted to let you know that yes it is really that contagious. Me, my older brother, and little sister all have it. Over the years it started off on my shoulders and spread throughout my entire back and now its all over my chest and stomach region. I have tried lotions, oral treatments and not much has worked. I mainly think its because I'm a total outdoors person. I swim, wakeboardrd, play basketball, just about anything when its sunny outside, and it has taken its toll on my skin. But now I've been taking this pills referred by my sister who has been taking them for about a month now. They are Omega 3, 6, and 9 as well as multivitaminin, and acidophilus. It almost completely cleared up her skin, but I'm not healing as fast as her. So good luck and take all the necessary precautions so it doesn't get worse.

» INeedaCure87 - Tinea Versicolor

Hi my name is Juwells and im 16 and have had tinea versicolor for about 3 or 4 years now.I have it on my spine, my chest(not anymore), my stomach, and my forearms .Its kinda crazy because it kinda goes away in the winter but not completely, and it comes bacc full and potent in the summer so i guess humidity accents it. Well i went to the dermatologist and she told me whut it was gave me something that was only temporary, and when i ran out of it i was assed out.I have tried vinegar, because i thought it was a fungus and vinegar kilss fungus, but un fortunately it didnt work,I'v tried various websites and theyve sayd to apply dandruff shampoo so i tried that, but all it did was move to my stomach and slightly off my chest. I have been so desperate, i even tried scratching it off, and if i do it really hard it will slightly come off. Its not like its only discoloration on my skin but like another layer of very very rough skin and its black and highly visible... i cant even go to the swimming pool without being made fun of and it hurts it really does. I mean its hot outside and i feel like swimming without having to deal with others talkin about my condition ......please please help me find a cure for this.

i have it on my chest between my breasts and hate to even wear v-necks. they say there's a pill you can take but doctors are reluctant to prescribe it it seems because there's a slim chance it may cause liver failure. i think im going to try it anyway -- maybe you should look into it. how long did you try the vinegar for? i was thinking about trying that first since it supposedly cures athletes foot, nail fungus, etc.

Hey,
In response to your message, are there any adverse effects from these pills and where would I get them?

Also, being an outdoors person, did the tinea versicolor ever bother you, esp when you're outside in a swim suit?

I have had tv on and off now for a few years. It is definately worse in the summer due to the humidity. I have used Diflucan and Selsen Blue and had it all cleared up. I now have it again and am using selsen blue without pills. You can buy otc diflucan and double the dose so that is my next step. I have also heard tinactin (the athletes foot crap) works as well. I know how frustrating this is. I tan twice a week and the spots dont tan so they show like crazy. They look like white blotches of dry skin. Some are also pink and raised. This sux

Hello,
I'm going to try an oil from www.amoils.com. They have an oil that is for athlete's foot and nail fungus. Check out the site. It has other oils that you might want to try for other ailments. And the testimonials there are encourageing. I've tried the diflucan and nizoral shampoo, selsun blue, desonide all from a dermatologist but it only helps temporarily. I've had for 20 years and I'm sick of it. I hope this oil works I should recieve it in the mail in a couple days. I will use it and let you know here if it works. Good luck to all!

i'm a 18 year old male with tinea versicolon,i've had it for about five or six years,my father told me he had it when he was young but i went away on it on,so i thought it would,so i never got medecine.now i wish i would had because i have it worse than ever now and it won't go away.i have it all down my arms on my entire chest and my back, also under my arms which is really noticeable.i went to the doctor a couple years back and they gave me some cream, all it did was make it worse, then i tryed the pills, nothing, the shampoo, nothing,so i went back about a month ago and he gave me some different shampoo,it did help a little but when i ran out i stop using it ,well i figured that was it,i could go back to my old self and get sun tan and everything.i went last week and got sun tan and it covered them all up.i was so glad.i came home that night and took a shower but i noticed when i got out of the shower that it was still there.i went back to the doctors yesterday and he gave me some Ketoconazole 400mgs i'm trying that now and i hope and pray that it work but if not i have learned alot of stuff from this website and i would really like to think all of you.its really embarsing because i love the summer and i love to get nice and dark, but i get nice and dark with a little bit of white spots to go with it,i can't even take my shirt off in public or wear a tank top.it really fustrating.my wife has no problem with it she said i wouldn't look the same with out it and she loves me no matter what, but she just doesn't understand what it feels like i guess, but it does feel good to have some one there you can talk to and that is understanding.thank you all for the advice and i'll let you know my progress, thanks

» psmcs - Tinea Versicolor

I'm 44 male caucasian, I've been suffering tv for about 20 years,it appears on my inner arms, thighs, stomach, back and outside breast area, the itch is very annoying and the appearance does not worry me but it has elicited comments from others.I've found the best way for me to alleviate it is plain old selsun blue, slightly diluted and applied to my whole body and allowed to dry and slept in overnight, it does result in some small scabbing but after the initial discomfort the relief is very good, and the "rash" will soon disappear, I also soak my sheets and pyjamas in the same solution then dried and find that this prolongs the effect. in the colder months this will last months but in the warmer months all that is needed to promote a major outbreak is some sweating exertion or hot humid weather. A cure would be fantastic.

In response to tinea versicolor posted by married_man:

hewhatsts up maiveve had severtineaeversicoloror for about 5 years now on and off. the best thing you can do to prevent it and i think this should work for everyone is to mind your diet. there are a fewebsiteseiveve found that not only tell you what to eabutwhatat not to eat/ drink, and they even have recipe books. the most important factor in my experiences is to reduce the amount of yeast in your body, which these diets do. i also notice when i drink any caffeine at all it tends to flare up pretty quickly depending on on what time of the year it is. alcohol if drank regularly like every weekend is when i always get it back. in fact whenever i stop drink, animeanan no alcohol at all for like 2 months it pretty much completely clears up. but whenever i start drinking again it comes right back. IN my experience also i have passed it to my girlfriend.. shdidntnt mind too much but just as preacautionon
