Tinea versicolor - different cures for different people
This archived discussion is "read only". » OberonX - Tinea Versicolor I am a 35-year old African-American male. I first got tinea versicolor in 1985 while in the Philippines. I usually get it in hard to reach areas like my back and spinal area. I have tried several products over the years, but it always seems to come back.I tried Selsun Blue once, but when I left it on my skin overnight, it left it feeling raw and irritated, and s light scabbing developed. Also, I find when I stay away from foods containing yeast or fermented foods (breads and yogurt), the problem goes away. Just some thoughts. -- posted by OberonX » texmom - Re: Tinea Versicolor In response to message posted by OberonX:HI OberonX, Thank you for your response. That's interesting you think you might have contracted the fungus while in the Phillipines. My husband's grandfather actually had Tinea Versicolor as well. We assume that is where he "caught" it. Thank you for your suggestion about yeast, breads and yogurts. So many skin disorders seem to have an allergy connection. I know that will be helpful to a lot of readers (including my husband). It has gotten hot again and he is already starting to itch! -- posted by texmom Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
