There is now a cure for rosacea. I call it a cure, because I know/believe that this is the only treatment to attack and destroy the CAUSE of rosacea, rather than just "treating/controlling" symptoms.
It involves repeated once-a-week or once-a-month, multiple applications, (i.e. even ten+ applications, in a 4 hour time period), of a (DMSO + fluconazole/Diflucan) topically applied mixture, called [FLUCONAZOLE 1% SOLUTION], over a period of months. DMSO, (i.e. Dimethyl Sulfoxide), is a liquid that looks like water, which is known to potentiate drugs that are mixed with it. Fluconazole/Diflucan, is known to be an anti-fungal drug. Fluconazole is the generic name for this drug, while Diflucan is the Pfizer Co.'s brand name for its fluconazole.
The most serious rosacea symptoms should be gone within a month or two, of starting this treatment/cure, but it can take many more months, before the 100% cure is accomplished. All the facts, are at:

The only large rosacea-centered group that has not completely suppressed this news, is the "rosaceans", (called rosaceans@yahoogroups.com), at:

The largest rosacea centered group, (called rosacea-support@yahoogroups.com), is suppressing this information, Moderating it and refusing to post it since May 2003. A smaller rosacea group,(called rosacea-knowledge@yahoogroups.com), has also suppressed this information since June 2003. I was banned from both of these groups, in May and June 2003. They are still maintaining this ban.
My firm belief, is that greed is causing many people to suppress the news of this treatment/cure for rosacea. They are also trying to discredit it with lies and/or disinformation, because they do not want to lose the income/profit they are making, by "helping/treating" rosaceans.
This is not a false claim. It takes some time, at the rosacea-cure group website, (called rosacea-cure@yahoogroups.com), to study and understand how you can obtain and use this treatment/cure for rosacea. Some rosaceans, being cured by using topically applied [FLUCONAZOLE 1% SOLUTION], are now starting to come forward, and confidence is extremely high, that all rosaceans will get rid of their rosacea, using this new cure. By God's grace, I accidentally discovered this, and was able to get rid of my 15-20 year case of rosacea, in 2002. Because there was so much resistance against me, in the form of corrupt banning practices, and deceptive disinformation attacks, against this cure, I was forced to form the rosacea-cure group, to get this word out. I am writing today about the skin condition Tinea Versicolor. I am going to answer the questions posed in Shannon Evans letter. I am a 28 year old female. I was formally diagnosed with TV in July of 2003. Although, I was living with it for seven years before I was "officially" diagnosed. I just taught myself what it was via the internet and treated myself it until last year. When I did finally see a doctor there were no formal tests done to determine the condition, the doctor just looked at it and told me what is was. The thing that bothers me the most about this is that it is chronic and the appearance of my skin in the summer.I must say that I have not had a significant outbreak since I first noticed it in the summer of 1997. They say that this is carried in families but in my case this is not true because no one in my family has this condition.
I know exactly when and how I contracted this condition. I was 19 and living in Missouri (where I always lived) in a basement apartment that was very moldy in the summer time. I mean MOLDY. Everything that was leather or moist for more than a day started to grow mold.
I contracted TV when I lived in this basement and I am pretty sure from using towels with small amounts of mold spores on them. I think this because I never had this condition until I lived in this environment.
The first break out I had was located just on my arms and both of my entire shoulders and upper arms turned white in a matter of two or thee days. I treated this with vinegar and just stayed out of the sun. Which was no fun. I love summer and the sun so hiding inside all summer is not an option. So for the last 3 years I have been seeking a method of TV PREVENTION rather than treatment.
In the last seven years I have tried everything to keep this from coming back and I have succeeded for the most part other than a small outbreak last summer (which I will explain why below).
I have found that all of the web sites about TV speak about how to treat this condition but not how to prevent this condition. To make matters worse the treatments seem to last more than a month sometimes and this is too long considering summer only last 3 months or so.
What I have been doing to prevent TV outbreaks is just this one simple thing. The Number One Thing to do is: I use a ketoconazole shampoo as a body wash EVERYDAY. "They" say to only use it once a week or leave it on overnight when the outbreak has already occurred. But that is not enough to keep the fungus from building up on the skin in the first place and then latter only treats it after the break out has occurred. I leave it on in the shower for about 5 mins and then rinse it off. You can get this shampoo just about anywhere it is dandruff shampoo and there are several kinds of dandruff shampoo but get the kind with Ketoconazole 1% it is also available in 2% but that is prescription only.
The next two things are just suggestions that have also helped me.
Number two: I would recommend that you go to the doctor and get a prescription for ketoconazole 2% cream in case you do have a break out this works the best to kill the yeast. Put in on when ever you see a white spot forming.
Number three: When you are out in the sun try not to burn so that you peel. If you begin to peel you will not be able to determine if you are just peeling or if you are having a breakout.
Using a ketoconazole shampoo as a body wash everyday has kept my TV at bay for the last 5 years. The only time I have had a small breakout is when I forgot to use the ketoconazole regimen.
I hope this works for some of you it has worked pretty well for me. This way you just keep the yeast form building up on your skin instead of trying to get rid of it once it is present. Make sense?
Also I have read on websites that the white spots will not tan until the next tanning season but I have found that if you do have a breakout and are using the shampoo and the Ketoconazole cream the spots will tan. At least this has worked for me. I hope it works for some of you to so that you can get back out in the sun.
I did have a question. The way my TV is, is that I will go out in the sun and get tan everywhere and then after a couple of days white patches or spots will appear. But the websites say that the yeast acts like a band-aid and blocks the suns rays and that is why you get the white spots but that is not how it is for me. Do any of you get tan and then the white spots occur?

p.s. my dermatologist (i think...or SOMEONE) mentioned that the yeast eats the melanin that's the pigmnet in your skin which makes the spots white and untannable (????)

I believe that I have the same condition that your talking about, but have not been formally told by a doctor exactly what it is, and the causes or ie: treatments. Except the use of Lamisil. That is all the doctors even have told me to use..and at first when I was younger at around 16 I started getting it on my chest...and it was pink patches that itched...and now in my 20's I'm still getting it only it's not as noticeble at least there...but on my back...it's started to "colonize" as they say..and it's all over...in these white spotted patches here and there. Mostly on my back is where it's gotten worse..and now that I know it's versicolour. I seriously want to get my skin back to it's normal colour..and fast! I wanted to know once I start that dandruff shampoo routine how long does it take to see results or is it just as a preventative? I mean does it work right away?
And will it balance out the colour again? Cause I was told that the depigmentation will take like 6ths or so to clear up?? It's white spots all over the upper part of my back and shoulders..I was going to order that tetrasil cream, which I still may do..But your advice seems good too..I'm gonna try anything..I love the summer sun too..and I want to visit some hot places this year...Hope it works!

I was movin logs so I could tan last summer and the next day i noticed a tiny white spot that was not tan from the day before. I am sure I got it from the wood. I know you can get it from logs too. I hate TV and I want to Kill it. I like getting tan and I like my skin to look good as well. I am going to cure it and tell you how I did it. I know this is cureable because it is a cureable disease the same way ring worm is cureable. HELPPPPPP!! Has anyone found themselves as angry as I am. I am curently doing the selsun blue deal and I am taking vitamins for my immune system. I am going to take the Tetrasil cream and rub it on my body. even if I have to eat it I will. LOL. Has anyone ever gotten this and never gotten it back. I can deal with getting it for a few months but for the rest of my life. I mean what would happen if it mutated and started eating my skin. HELPPPPP!!! I am so stressed out over this and I feel like crying all the time. I barely have it but I know its spreading. I want to get rid of it quick before it makes its way to my face. I see a spot on my neck! Please help me!

Hey. IM kIm.I go tanning often and live in Tucson AZ. Recently I went tanning and the spots on my arms were the worst I had even had. I was really really tan tho. I ran into this chick and she said she used to have this too. Told me to ask my pharmacist and I did. That 17.00 dollar Lamisil stuff in the cream form. I got it a week ago and its already almost gone. I am leaving to Vegas this weekend and didnt want to go like a freakin leapord. Ha ha. So, dont sweat it sweetie. Its treatable.

Nickster,Dude, as much as I feel your pain (I'm 41 years old and I've had TV since I was 17), you have to understand that raging against the machine isn't going to solve anything. TV is like Samsonite luggage; you keep it forever. You can successfully treat it, even to the point, like me, where outbreaks happen maybe once every 18 months, but right now there is no "cure." Hopefully your doctor explained to you how TV works. It's not just a rash. You don't catch it from people or things. It's a plant. It's alive. It's an actively growing yeast that is in the air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, forever. Most people have a particular amino acid in their bodies which makes them immune to the yeasts, molds, spores, etc. that are landing out of the air on all us all the time. Since everyone I know of that has TV has not always had it, we must have had that amino acid in our bodies for part of our lives as well. However, for some reason (and this is where the doctors always go foggy and mealy-mouthed on you) we lucky TV sufferers stopped producing our natural defense. This makes us look like prime farmland to the nasty yeasties in the air who are just looking for place to take root and grow. I was a slave to the Selsun (rotten eggs stink bath) treatment for a long time. Certain steroids will really knock TV for a loop, but doctors are very cautious these days about prescribing steroids. However, there are some new oral medications that have recently (in the last couple of years) come out that really give TV a fit. I've only had a 2 courses of my latest medication (you take like 3 or 4 pills once a day and you're done) and I haven't had an outbreak of TV in over 18 months. Does this mean I'm cured? No. It simply means that there are some good meds out there that are freeing our dependence on Selsun and other topical creams and ointments. Until medical science figures out a way to give us back our amino acid, then we're stuck with TV. Talk to your doctor. It's not a pleasant condition, but it's a whole lot easier to treat and live with now than it was 20 years ago. I no longer have to fear summer or be embarassed when I go to the pool or the beach.
