I had the lump (with cancer) removed and then unwent radiation. Much the same as Peggy Fleming is doing. I don't understand why Linda's tumor was not caught early. As you say she had access to the best. As for her diet. I have discussed with friends the fact that they really don't know what causes breast cancer. I know I grew up where they sprayed for mosquitos, and I ran through the fog, etc. etc, my support group related many tales. We don't focus on why much anymore, nor should we. We should be focused on cure. With good accurate records as to maybe why. I think breast cancer may start in childhood, like skin cancer. Just my theory.Lane Bryant wouldn't sell many clothes if they only showed fat models. And what is fat anyway? Ten pounds to me isn't anything, but 10 pounds to some one else is a lot. Just my size has larger models. However, I would like to point out that Just My Size uses well-proportioned models. Not heavy on bottom, or heavy on top, or both with no waist, etc. They all look just right even though they have extra flesh. Now what do we do? Everytime I run into fat-phobia I speak up. I may say, "So!" or I may say, "My creator isn't finished with me yet." and sometimes I say "Would you like to talk about it, or are you just wanting to hurt people?" One time a co-worker told me about her daughter having 15 pounds over her normal weight (whatever that is) and she tried to get her to eat only one scoop of ice cream instead of two. Days and days we talked about her daughter. I finally asked her is the rest of the family having two scoops? Oh course they all did. "So, she has a right to have two scoops. She is after all part of the family." It was days before she "got it" By being deprived she was setting up a lifetime of wanting more, and feeling different or not deserving. When someone says, "you're too much." I try to say, "I'm just right." "you have big feet." "No, I'm just right." As we all are. One last thought. I have a wonderful doctor who is also my oncologist. One day I talked to her about weight, and here is what she said, "Mona, if you only had two years to live, would you use it obessing about your weight?" -- posted by MonaH
