I have custody of two girls age 8 and 9. When should they start doing their own hair? What is normal?

I have sole custody of my twin daughters who are almost 5 and I let them decide how to have their hair cut and to brush it themselves and then I finish it when they are done.It seems your girls are at an age to take care of their hair and ifit doesn't work out go back to doing it yourself.I hope this was helpful.I have been raising my daughters on my own since they were 8 months old and have learned alot.
