10 and ½ COMMON MYTHS ABOUT MUSLIMS (in no particular order)Read the article this discussion is about
This archived discussion is "read only". » hawknut - Please comment.... If you have any more ‘facts’ you’ve heard about Islam and Muslims, please post them up so I can work on those too!If you would, Fatima... please comment on the remarks presented below (from Bible Apologetics topic, "Allah or God" thread, Sept. 2005). 1. Twice Pardoned started the discussion: "Second, If Abraham is both the 'father' of Jews and Muslims (begot Ishmael/Isaac) doesn't that mean that they worship the same God... even though they don't worship Him the same way. I mean Allah means God in Arabic and this word was based off of Abraham's teaching of God??? How does Islam describe Jesus? 2. JesusFreak wrote: "What the Muslims are actually worshiping is a pagan god. The worship of Allah pre-dates Islam." and "Also before posting these links I checked their sources that clarified that archeological and historical evidence has shown that Allah was worshiped as the Arabic moon god long before the invention of Islam." Boanurges wrote: "Allah has pagan origins, even though today Islam may claim Allah as God and reject those origins." and "I believe it is good to be educated on the origins of all religions, and think that once a person begins to educate themselves on those things, they would indeed find that Islam (among others) has truth to its origins of paganism." 3. Boanurges wrote: "There is no confusion here, as the religion of Islam relates nothing to the Old Testament other than the name Ishmael." 4. Boanurges wrote: "However, Islam rejects any notion of a savior, other than Allah..." Thank you for your article. I read it a long time ago, but didn't have any comments or questions until now. I'm eager to read your remarks. -- posted by hawknut » _Boanerges_ - Re: Please comment.... So, I will add it for the benefit of readers who may not know otherwise: you quoted only half my statement: Boanurges wrote: ....and "I believe it is good to be educated on the origins of all religions, and think that once a person begins to educate themselves on those things, they would indeed find that Islam (among others) has truth to its origins of paganism Here is the FULL statement: Additionally, whether or not something has pagan origins, is as well, irrelevant. The reason is because this still does not answer what Islam teaches, nor what Christianity teaches. I believe it is good to be educated on the origins of all religions, and think that once a person begins to educate themselves on those things, they would indeed find that Islam (among others) has truth to its origins of paganism. But.... this does nothing for what Islam teaches. The same is true for any subject one wants to research, including Christianity or Judaism.
