Here are some of the verses about Adam and Eve in the Qur'an
"But Satan caused them to deflect therefrom and expelled them from the (happy) state in which they were; and We said: Get down!* One of you a foe to the other! There shall be for you on earth, a habitation and provision for a time.

"Then Adam received from his Lord words (of revelation) and He relented toward him. Lo! He is the Relenting, the Merciful."
Al- Baqarah (Chapter 2) : Verses 36 and 37

* The Arabic words used here are in the plural referring to the generations of Adam (us!) that would turn against each other, not to Adam and Eve, or male and female, as the English may suggest.

In another place, it says:
"Thus did he (Satan)lead them on with guile. And when they tasted of the tree, their shame was manifest to them and they began to hide (by heaping) on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden. And their Lord called them, (saying): Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you: Lo! Satan is an open enemy to you?"

"They Said: 'Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If Thou Forgive us not and have not mercy on us, surely we are of the lost!"
Al- A'raf (Chapter 7): Verses 22 and 23

And one more:
"But the Devil whispered to him, saying: O Adam! Shall I show thee the tree of immortality and power that wasteth not away?"

"Then they twain ate thereof, so that their shame became apparent to them and they began to hide by heaping on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden. And Adam disobeyed his Lord, so went astray."

"Then his Lord chose him, and relented toward him, and guided him."
Ta ha (Chapter 20): Verses 120-122

About the gender issue, I would have better put it if I said both male and female were equally capable and good smile Basically, we're human and while man and women obviously differ, there is no inequality in their spiritual, moral or intellectual abilities according to Islam. Each gender has responsibilities, duties and rights that work to complement
each other. Infact, some of the greatest leaders and poltical activists in Islam have been women - Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad (pbuh), Khadijah - his wife, Zaynab - his granddaughter, Summayyah - the mother of Yassir (a respected companion), Fizza - the Abyssinian Princess and others.

The inequality issues that have arisen over the centuries are PURELY cultural. I think within both the Shia and the Sunni communities, there are groups that still discriminate against women, because they still haven't broken free from cultural norms. Based on the Shia-accepted traditions from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the Imams, I know there are none that refer to women as being 'less' than men. I wouldn't be that sure with the Sunni-accepted traditions, simply because I'm not as well versed with all of their books.

You mentioned that the inheritance of sin contradicts what Ezekiel and Jesus said, yet isn't it that very belief that supports the crucifixion of Christ - so that his blood would wash away the burden of sin from the Christians? That's what I keep hearing over here. Can you explain that a little more?
