» Scribe4u - Smudge Sticks I used to have a smudge stick that a woman made for me. She told me to use it to cleanse a new house or if I brought something new into my home as well as cleansing me.I do have a question that has nothing to do with smudge sticks. I had a treatment, for lack of a better word, last week. It involved a healer using hands-on and sometimes chants or strange words and sounds. She started with my heart and then we did a lot of work which centered from the heart and into other parts of my body. It was also a very emotional experience for me. Do you know what this is called? -- posted by Scribe4u » ravenfairie - Re: Smudge Sticks/healing Hi there. The treatment you described sounded like energy work. What type, whether it is reiki, healing touch, or something else i'm not sure. There are many different forms out there. The heart Chakra is often worked with a lot in energy healing, because so much emotion both good and bad are stored there. It is the spot for unconditional love, and how many of us can say that we've loved everyone and everything unconditionally all of our lives? I certainly can't. So there is a lot of emotion in the heart. Energy work can be very emotional because it releases and opens up our bodies, mentally, physically, and emotionally so that we can heal right at the roots. You can ask the woman who did the work to explain what she was doing and why. I don't believe that healing work should be secretive and mysterious, you're there to heal and understanding what's going on in a healing treatment is an important aspect of self healing. There's some good books on my book list about energy healing and also the two part article that i wrote on it as well, if you're curious. Don't hesitate to ask anyother questions you have. -- posted by ravenfairie » jerrib - Frist visit here, Anne I find your site fascinating. I was exposed to two cupcake tins of spices in the fifth grade and we had to learn the names of all 24 of them. The smells permeated the classroom for a month until I was sick. I cook with lots of herbs and spices but cannot still stand to be around more than one scent at a time. Would you consider an article on the effects of too many scents? Does that fit here?-- posted by jerrib » ravenfairie - Re: Frist visit here, Anne Hello! I will defiantly consider an article on scent overload. I think i can make it fit *grin*It will be a very interesting research project for me. I used to work in an Aromatherapy shop and sometimes the mixture of scent was overpowering, even nauseating. I understand what you mean about being sickened. Usually when they did not complement each other the smell was bad. And at other times the mixtures were wonderful to smell. Thank you for this great suggestion. Stay tuned, I'll be writing that article soon. I'm going to be finishing up my shaman herb series over the next two months. Next month will be Cedar, then Tobacco. October will be Devils Club and Native Tree Wisdom. So look for an article about scent to appear in Nov. (if it doesn't give me a kick in the butt reminder to get to it Thanks again -- posted by ravenfairie
