» Daffyclay - Barbara, The azalea were large enough to use a chain saw, but Barbara,The azalea were large enough to use a chain saw, but as it where, my chain saw was in the shop when I got the "bug," so I used a prunning saw, and a pair of long handles prunners. Essentially, two bushes were taking up a space of about 50 square feet. They were very leggy and thin on the inside, while forming a "wall" on the outer branches. I cut them down to the ground, leaving stumps only. Since then, they have grown out about two feet, with very thick foliage. I plan on keeping them at this smaller size (for a while).
