This is an extremely well written article, and a very thought provoking piece, I feel honored to have my piece as a companion to it. The Library of Babel is an incredible story, and one that I will never tire of reading. I wonder though...it's interesting that he would point out the futility of searching for the end of the library...how long do you think you could spend searching through just one book? Probably Eternity...

The universe as a vast library, with man the imperfect librarian. What a wonderful image. So many lives, so many stories.

» kopfschuh - Babel and Christ

I'm going to have to most respectfully disagree with you that the "Man of the Book" is a "very clear reference to Jesus Christ." To me, the man of the book is a philisophical examination of what god means, how god came to be, not literal obviously, but God nonetheless. Jesus Christ, being offspring of God as known in the christian world, seems to me to have little connection to this Man of the Book. I'd love to understand this better from your point of view and would greatly appreciate a further explanation on this point. Thanks.
