» JessieBK - what is this show supposed to be about

Okay, so I'm a huge sci-fi freek--if its about space and aliens--I'm all over it. Anyway, I saw one episode of Andromeda and I just couldn't figure it out--one minute they're here, then they're someplace else, they meet somebody who they don't know and then its like they've known them all along. would someone please explain it? Maybe all the episodes of Stargate I've watched have finally rotted out my brain.

Hi Jessie,

I watch the new episodes of "Andromeda" regularly. Do you remember the title of the episode? Or please give a little more detail about what happened and I can help you.

» JessieBK - Andromeda question

Its the whole premise--I missed the premier and watched the first episode (on Sci Fi recently). I understand that Sorbo's character had somehow been frozen in time for 200 years, and somehow he woke up and met up with some kind of "salvage" raider-type people and his whole universe is in somekind of chaos and Sorbo is out to put it all back together. Are those Nietze (I know my spelling is way off) some kind of existential followers or decendant's of Frederick--some kind of self-absorbed race? And what's the deal with the ship? Does it have some kind attached Android? It just seems kind of random--no really clear chain of events. Cool special effects, though. I like the one girl's hair and the glitter on her face--but I don't really get her whole "spiritual vibe" and her character's function. I watch Earth, Final Conflict and it took me a while to get that one, too.

Jessie,

So you're starting from the beginning. Lets see if this helps.

Dylan Hunt was trapped on the event horizon of a black hole for 300 years frozen in time. He woke up to find the Commonwealth of planets gone. He is trying to restore it and end the chaos.

The Nietzchians (sp?) are a genetically engineered race. They believe in bloodlines and the importance of strength through survival.

The ship Andromeda has an intelligent AI. Yes. There is an android that will act as the ship's avatar. She will appear in a future episode.

The girl with the the glitter is Trance Gemini. She remains a mystery until the fourth year of the show. She remains an enigma for some time.

Hope this helps. If you'd like more info on the show, check out the web site at: http://www.andromedatv.com
You'll find more detailed info there.

» JessieBK - thanks

Thanks--that helps.
I'm not a big fan of essoteric sci-fi/fantasy. I'm a Trekkie--I like space and aliens, I kind of like the comfort of a linear journey-a clear objective, slightly realistic, so to speak. I also like the general escapist nature of sci-fi--don't really like to think too much about trying follow the action, hence my strange fascination with Stargate. But I keep missing Andromeda, so I bet that doesn't help much, either.

Jessie,

Your welcome. Glad I could help. I enjoy Stargate too. Just wish there was more SF and Fantasy programs on tv, not less.
