» rrmallory - The Latest Reviews

I just glanced over my webzine reviews for the past few months and realized that I've found a brand new crop of 'best of the best.' Within the coming weeks I'll be taking a look at my webzine links and ratings and establishing a new 5 best... maybe. We'll see how the 'old guard' of zines stacks up to some of these newer, slick zines I've been discovering out there lately.

Plus, when I have time (time? what's that? ) I want to share with you a list (maybe even a web page) of links to paying and non-paying markets.

Contrary to what seems to be common 'lore,' a zine doesn't necessarily have to pay to have great stories. The semi-pro and amateur zines have always been a starting point for new authors, and this still seems to be the case.

Don't think I necessarily advocate getting $0 for your stories, you writers out there. As a writer myself, I know how important that paycheck is. But exposure is important also. There are some wonderful writers who are being accepted by zines which do not pay . . . yet.

Don't discount their talent just because they're writing for non-paying markets.

Keep on reading and writing!

Rickey
