» Nora13 - Re: Do we announce ourselves or not? Ok I have only done announcement of that I am coming in with a service dog to a hospital once, A nursing home Once to visit a friend of mine, Now Doctor's offices yes if I am new to them. But otherwise I do not. Now if I call ahead to make sure a store has what I need on hand before I drive down there, they ask if I am bringing the SD. But it is because they want me to bring her, not otherwise. That dog has more friends than I do I swear!! LOL I figure the disabled person can make the choice of whether they want to call in ahead themselves. It is their comfort level they need to keep in mind. Their disability and how they cope with access issues. So to me this in an individual choice. But to be required to do so would be ridiculous! It would hurt those of us who have enough issues , and asking permission is what that smacks of to me. When I have called ahead it is to tell them I am bringing the dog. I am not asking their permission!! But to warn them that I am coming in and dont be suprised! I do this out of kindness because some poor absentminded doctor swept into a exam room and looked up saw the service dog and jumped 3 foot strait up in the air!! POOR GUY!! So I do that one out of consideration. The regular public access. Well if they wanna gripe I just tell them I hope they are willing to throw money away!!
