Hi Virginia

The error messages I'm getting too..was warned a virus may be lurking.sad

Hey..you're not disagreeing with me. I love researching half forgggotten issues and the reality checking your topics add.

I won't/can't advise re medications and am very mindful this is NOT a medical site. The context I aimed for, focused on "..special or new treatments..." without editorialising was:

"...The pain associated with zoster should be treated aggressively with agents such as (non exhaustive list follows) and may require early referral to a pain clinic." The article added context. Maybe there is a more recent version of the best approach but I haven't yet found it.

I jumped in while expecting you guys to bridge the future's theory for all to today's reality for individuals.

**My view is doctors assume their patients are far more medication-compliant than they are..that certain medications risk clinical addiction. Others risk the lesser form of dependence...that some are only short-term but patients want them longer term...that some medications need to be weaned off while introducing new medications, some designed for one purpose are found to serve another, then dosages etc etc. Ergo check it all out with your own doctor (or health professional to neutralise the term). smile

I have a friend with trigeminal(sp) neuralgia who receives morphine injections during acute phases. Neuralgia, like sciatica which I have, seem pretty resistant to pain relief.

50 is relatively young...a bit older but I can handle that. smile

Hi Barbara. There is something about the pre-occupation of golf etc etc that probably comes within 'pain management'...the earlier the 'intervention' to this form of 'pain clinic' the better. This helps to avoid a thing labelled 'chronic pain syndrome'.

**I will refer to this qualification of my comments as 27. The number 26 refers to the fair dinkum personal background to my posts not used her so far. That might keep posts within readable bytes. ABC smile

Jeff
