You are so right, how can we expect others to accept us as we are if we don't.

The problem as I see it is that today as probably in the past someone or some groups have made images for us to live up or down to. These are usually unreal impossible images, but we all try, some people have come to believe that these images are normal and when we don't fit that bill we are not.

This does make life difficult most of the time, and forces us to try to live an unreal life.

It has taken me a very long time to accept myself as I am and to realize all this. Since I have relaxed and been my true self I have been a lot happier and I am sure I have more friends and people do accept me for what I am.

I just wanted to comment on this discussion from a slightly different point of view. It appears that these indifferences are all by design and have been this way since the very beginning. It appears that the human condition is being tested in certain respects for an end result. Very much like a scientist might conduct an experiment in a laboratory. We assume we are the highest on the food chain but that is only according to the human point of view. Such obstacles have been placed here purposely (again by design) in an attempt not so much to discourage us but to provide a sincere "need" to desire something greater! If conditions were too peachy creamy as they say then what? Perhaps, such results would almost be impossible without any real need. Thus, the Divine balance of the negative and positive polarities from above.
