Psychological Effects of being Diagnosed with EpilepsyRead the article this discussion is about

» Barbara Nicholson Bell - Can you imagine? Can you imagine actually being happy to get this diagnosis? My dear friend has been trying for years to explain the strange episodes he had to doctors who dismissed his symptoms as further side effects of his clinical depression and medication. Finally about six months ago he had a grand mal seizure that lasted quite long and was very violent. A neurologist gave him more thorough tests and the diagnosis of epilepsy was verified. He is on anti-seizure medications and is much improved. We are actually thrilled to know what is wrong and that it now is being addressed by a neurologist. He has not experienced the grief and sense of loss over this dianosis, because he is already disabled and unable to work or drive. Instead, he is relieved. -- posted by Barbara Nicholson Bell
