Apples: The Sweet Fruits of Autumn

Some of my best memories are of taking my kids to the orchards this time of year to pick apples. We'd stock up on fresh taters, carrots, squash, turnip, and all that good stuff.

Since my husband's favorite is apple pie I'll have to give this one a try. Have you ever made your crust in a food processor? It's so easy. Just add the ingredients as you would for making them the normal way and pulse 'til it's blended together. I then put it in the fridge to firm and take it out as needed. It makes a very flaky crust. I usually use macs as I like the tartness, but I'll give the grannys a try as well.

We do have an apple tree, but they're the green kind that aren't even good eating unless you're a kid with a cast iron stomach. LOL
