» Prometheus - I'd like to add an off-site search engine.

I have a substantial site: 30 indexes, and roughly
230 links. I'd love to have a search engine for
my site, but because it is hosted by a low-budget
service, I can't have my own engine.

I think there exist free engines that will perform
searches on just my site and its pages. Which are
the best and least restrictive in advertisements
and other clutter?

» David_Poulson - Search Tools

G'day Mike!

If you pay a visit to http://www.freeware.com and then navigate as follows ...Internet - Web Browser Tools - Search Tools ... you may find something suitable in the many items available in that category.

Good luck!

» David_Poulson - Sorry Folks!

My mistake...I should have written: www.freewarehome.com

My thanks to the indefatigable Brian Hughes, Contributing Editor of Freeware, for picking up this mistake and (very tactfully) letting me know.

Sorry for any inconvenience and confusion.

» Minnie - link to their site?

I just signed up for listing on quite a number of search engines. One has asked me to put their link on my site.

It is really not my topic, so I prefer not to. Any advice?

» Prometheus - FreeFind was what I wanted.

What I was looking for was FreeFind.
http://www.freefind.com/

You can use their pages to search your site.

They send me a report of searches every month.

» PersuasionL - Listing of Search Engines

My site has a listing of over 100 search engines you can submit to for free. The only thing is you have to input your info after linking to the sites. Info is also available for the person seeking a free on site search engines plus many other features. It`s part of my main site on telemarketing and investment fraud but you should find both aspects quite useful. http://www.crimes-of-persuasion.com/web_...

» Marge_Talt - Re: link to their site?

In response to message posted by Minnie:

Minnie, if you want them to link to you or they require a reciprocal link, you can make a published page for those and just put a link to it on your welcome page somewhere..in your list of links, for instance as "reciprocal links' or something..call it whatever you want to. No one will ever go there but you'll have put their link on "your" site:-)
