I read your review of three new search engines with interest...thanks.My feeling is that Goto.com will enjoy only fleeting success. The idea that what I am presented with is determined by the highest bidder ,rather than the quality of the content sought, conjures up images of wasted time and manipulation of my access to unbiased information. Won't others feel the same?

Brian-It seems that at this point in the Internet's development, promotion is everything. More and more beginners are using the web every day. And they'll go to places that they've heard of or that are advertised.
Also, there are people who want to go only the biggest, richest, most well-known sites.
I don't think GoTo will be popular among researchers, but apparently it's doing quite well without their business.
