Hi Linda,

Great article, I was most interested to read about Caribbean diving, as I've done most of my diving in Australia and the Pacific. Don't you think it's sad that many people still think of sharks as terrible monsters, yet many are endangered, many are harmless to humans, and as top line predators the health of our oceans really depends on them.

Thanks Mary for the kind words. I looked at your page quickly yesterday and it will be very interesting too. I have become an environmentalist in my old age regarding your trees and the oceans -- if we don't save them, who will? The shark experience was a great one, I encourage anyone who has an opportunity to dive with these beautiful creatures. Good luck with your new page.

Linda you'll have to come to Australia and have a dive with the Great Whites! Although they're not so easy to find these days -they're becoming endangered too.

Mary,

We were in Australia for a visit in 1987 and snorkeled on the Barrier Reef. It was that experience that launched us into diving! We have yet to get back, but it is certainly on our list of places to visit in the next few years. We would like to sail the south pacific and dive all over after we retire in a couple years. A good friend of ours, Steve Frink leads Great White shark trips to Australia at least once a year. He has some fantastic photos, says it's great. I don't know about it -- those teeth are awfully big! I'm not much for cages either!
