» CaHarlan - Iced Tea

If you can make iced tea that's as good as McAlister's Deli, please let me know your secret. The only thing I have found out is that they make theirs with turbinado sugar.

In response to message posted by CaHarlan:
I wrote and got this answer:

Dear Marna:

Thank you for taking time out of your day to contact us. I may be a bit prejudiced, but our tea IS good isn’t it? To answer your question, we use Lipton tea—the same tea you can buy at a supermarket. We really don’t have a secret recipe. One thing that makes our tea so good is the fact that it is never more than 2 hours old, so it’s always fresh. In addition, it is not poured over ice until it’s ready to be served.

Thank you for your patronage. We look forward to seeing you at McAlister’s again!

Sincerely,

Janis R. Anderson

» biogardener - Really special iced tea

Many years ago, Canada used to have a weekly tabloid magazine, "The Star Weekly," from which I learned the most amazing and amazingly simply tricks, and one of them was how to make the best-tasting iced tea.

The secret is to make it without heat. You simply place teabags in water and let them sit, either in light, even on a sunny windowsill. If you want to know how to make a drink similar to Snapple using similar methods, you can find it in my article, "I don't drink water."
