Hi Junesmile

Sorry for the confusion, a ricer is merely a tool used to make potatoes a very smooth consistency, smoother than mashes potatoes, it also makes apple sauce.

They are found in any kitchen store, and golly you know mine is so old, it was given to me by my mother who had it given to her by her mother etc...that I am not sure how much they cost these days. But they can be found.

Basically what it is, is an open pot that has teeny tiny little holes in it, much like a grater, and it has a handle and a blade like tool in it and you place the cooked potatoes in the ricer and turn the handle and is pushes the potatoes through those little holes and viola! you get smooth potatoessmile

Hope this helps!
