Reading Scriptures Intelligently: Using Your Bible's NotesRead the article this discussion is about

» rahunter_nf - Alberto, Alberto,Although I'm an evangelical Protestant, I'm a regular visitor to Scriptural Studies - Catholic because I'm also interested in the reading of the Scriptures intelligently and in faith. Looking at the examples in your latest article, on using a Bible's notes, made me realize one of the disadvantages of my having the text of New American Bible and New Jerusalem Bible in a parallel Bible (The Complete Parallel Bible, Oxford University Press, 1993) rather than in separate Bibles--not having the notes. However, one of my Bibles has notes that I use regularly and think would be of value to any evangelical Protestants visiting Scriptural Studies - Catholic, The NIV Study Bible (Zondervan, 1985). Keep up the fine work. Bob Hunter -- posted by rahunter_nf » agustinongpinoy - NIV Study Bible Thanks Bob for the comment. I think that the Bible you just mentioned is also available here. I'll check it out and perhaps see what kind of help it gives. You know, I also use an old KJV bible that was once used by a missionary. I got it for just P15.00 in an Old Books' Store and have been using it whenever i'd like to have more parallel texts. In fact, I use that old Protestant bible to appraise the quality of the parallel texts of both NAB and the JB.-- posted by agustinongpinoy
