Alexander Garner operated an optical shop in Glascow in the 19th century. I believe that this is the same man who later photographed the American Civil War with Mathew Bardy.My problem is that I have several glass slides of Scotland that were for sale in the gardner Optical shop in Glascoww. I would like to know more about this period in Gardner's life - where was the shop? when did he emigratee? why? etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
