Hi Keith:
I found your article very interesting, considering I live on the west coast of Canada. I knew the storms occured more frequently in the winter but I just didn't know why.

We have a phenomena here called the "Pineapple Express" and that is where the storms come across the Pacific from the southwest. We have warm weather and lots of rain.

You have painted a very accurate picture of the never-ending rain that can happen during the winter months.

Thank you for a very informative article. I've always been fascinated by the weather and I'll certainly come back and read more of your articles.

Thanks for the interest.

I had intended to cover the "Pineapple Express" in my November article, but length and the fact it isn't a storm as much as a flow pattern, did not cover it there. However, I did change my mind on my November Almanac at The Weather Doctor and wrote about the Express in Here Comes The Pineapple Express. The decision was made based on that dump of rain we had in October.
