» desertblue - Ever seen it?

So - you've seen the elusive flash, whether green or blue. Or you've looked and given up hope, wondering if the flash really exists.

Eh? Let me know here.

I've seen it a few times and always by happenstance; each time was in the desert outside of Tucson, AZ. It's cool to see because of it's rarity but it didn't seem particularly beautiful. Perhaps when it happens over the ocean it's more dramatic.

Dan, you're missing the point. It's the COOLNESS factor, not about beauty alone.

You're into celestial phenomena, aren't you? Mr. Space Camp?

I have never seen the elusive green flash but I have seen a lot of sunsets. Maybe they are like tooth fairies. Not quite real.

» scuba_steve - Great article!

Jill,

I really enjoyed this article. I too am a big fan of celestial phenomena. I have never seen the green flash and in fact I had never even heard of it until about two years ago. Thanks for writing such an informative and interesting article with so many great links. I like how you seperated the different sections with a line. It gives the article a very clean, neat appearance. I am going to have to do some HTML research to learn how to do that myself. Great photographs as well!

Ha, Thorsen! With that attitude, you'll never see one... smile Plus, I personally know the Tooth Fairy. She's a good friend of mine.

Wow, thanks for the praise, Steve. Let me know when you catch a flash. Once you start looking, it becomes addictive. I've been known to cut off conversations, just at the 'moment of truth', to wait as the sun sets...in the hopes of seeing one. I either have a great track record or a psychic sense, because I usually get this FEELING when I'm going to see one. (Or maybe my subconscious recognizes when the conditions are right.)

I'm glad you like celestial phenomena. You might want to read my article at Southwest Outdoors, on using the stars and moon for traveling and telling time: Starry Night: navigating by the stars . I didn't take those star pics, but I'm glad you liked my sunsets.

Psst: How to make an HTML line: hr, surrounded by < and >. (Ancient Chinese Secret)
