Inside Balboa Park: Great Park!

Now that you mention it I'd have to agree that Balboa Park is the "Smithsonian of the West". Since I was visiting I only had one day to experience it so I didn't get to see much but what I did see was fantastic and definitely is a must re-visit every time I have a chance until I've seen everything there is to see.

My favorite aspect of the park is its climate. San Diego is temperate enough that Balboa can be enjoyed year round. Something that definitely can't be said for the true Smithsonian because it's absolutely pissy in the winter. :-)

Jill gave a lot of good advice but one thing that I might add is to make sure you have plenty of film/storage for your camera because you'll need it. There are plenty of things to photograph: architecture, people, plants, etc.
