legal residency for full timers as of 2004

» ronawronker - best state to establish residency We are about to hit the road. We are pretty sure that the state we are leaving (CA) is NOT the ideal state to maintain as our legal residence. The obvious considerations are requirements to establish residency, income tax ,vehicle registration, medical and motor vehicle insurance, obligation to show up in state of vehicle registration for inspections, etc. We've heard Delaware, Nevada, So .Dakota may be good choices. In our particular situation, we have a pickup with cabover, so are not concerned about RV fees. As to health insurance, we are 20 years away from being medicare eligible, and in good health. Any and all suggestions are welcome. This is stated as your home state. That place to which you always intend to return. Texas and Florida have always been mentioned as the easiest states to work with. Just be sure that you do everything that your new state requires to establish residency and don't forget that you need to do everything you can to legally distence yourself from your old state. Let me know what you decide. In response to message posted by ronawronker:-- posted by GLEN_BARRY
